Exploring motion with Hanna on still photography
Your body, uniquely yours, serves as the vessel for your soul. What does it take to move with freedom? How can you attain boundlessness?
Back in 2022, I took a class at Mono No Aware where I delved into Edward Muybridge's process of conveying still images into stop motion. This involved shooting a roll of 16mm motion picture film and creating a contact sheet in the darkroom to divide the motion images into numerous stills. Drawing inspiration from the movement studies of the late 1800s, where photographs ignited the advent of stop motion and filmmaking, this series is a tribute to the genesis of it all.
