Ingridi Viruel is a Brazilian photographer and director based in New York City whose work weaves surreal, symbolic narratives that blend influences from fashion, fine art, and cinematography. Her background in Art History and her interest in philosophy infuse her practice with a deep exploration of the complexities of the human experience, using photography as a medium to access the subconscious mind. Ingridi works in a diverse range of styles, from dark, cinematic portraits to dreamlike compositions and haunting romanticism. Her photography invites viewers to embark on journeys through time and space, immersing them in rich, sometimes ambiguous worlds. She is drawn to the intersection of memory, nature, and the obscure, creating work that serves as both a personal diary and a dialogue between life and myth. Experimentation and exploration lie at the core of Ingridi’s practice- she views the camera as a perfect tool to break limits; exploring the intersection of traditional and contemporary image-making.
